Physique:

Hugo is a lean dog, and he thanks his poodle side for this. His hazel eyes are almond shaped and gentle, almost always having a laid back look.

Because he hates the vibrations of a razor, his cut is somewhat messy. The groomer often gives up around his face and sometimes lets the cut to be square-like.

Overall, he could be slightly under-defined, but a lot of it hides beneath his fur.

RECAP

Childhood

  • Was a ¨pure-bred¨ doodle sold off to a higher class family in Oslo.

  • practically unaware of his higher energy needs, he started acting up. He would pick up fights with other dogs during walks, or overact when passing them.

  • they were tired of him and his sudden energy outbursts.

Hugo was bought by a family who could gave him everything a dog ever wanted! But not what he needed. Their high status made them seek a dog with a high price instead of a dog that fit them and the life style of a bureaucrat. Since they were working loads of long hours, Hugo would stay home along for hours. His breeder told them he was a family dog, therefore, the pair ignored his maintenance and needs. His sudden bursts of energy were hard to control at times, which only frustrated his owners. Only focussing on the bad, they felt like lighted haired dog was a chore. At the time, he was young with the dreadful feeling of being unloved.

His frustration started taking over. The feeling of being ignored eventually led to him Hugo acting up.¨Attention can be gained many ways.¨ is what he learned.

You do not need to be cute or funny to be seen. Lashing out, taunting, or calling out are also methods to win over the public eyes.

[ Pixel ] tiny mushroom!

A trained eye would see easily that Hugo was a troubled dog. In the meanwhile, they just assumed he was dense. And so on.

Development

  • They started taking him outside to their garden, but he learned of ways to escape and made his own little rendezvous . Knowing their routines, he always came back before they knew.

Months had passed and his behaviour only seemed to deteriorate. Unwilling to give up on him, they kept him at a distance from the public.

The garden he spent time in was big, there was nothing to complain about there. But the boredom... oh the boredom. While feeling like his brain was about to shut down, an idea popped. Why did he have to stay? Skedaddling in and out wouldn't hurt anyone. With a leap of faith, he bolted over the fence. His hair flew high. The breeze was truly freeing. The rush of escape and return gave him the adrenaline he strived for. This little hunt for hustle became a daily occurring occurrence. That was, until he forgot to head back.

Now the scolding had begun. Seeing his owners pull up next to him was a jump scare. Was the clock that much already? he kept asking himself. The ride home was rather awkward. The silence was deafening. Smile, shout, cry, scold- do anything! But no, silence. Wind hitting the car held Hugo awake. The windows opened gave him goosebumps, and the stress gave him, well, stress. And so on.

Now

  • They found out of his escapes and sent him off to a shelter.

  • It didn't take long for him to realise what had happened.

  • Tired, he began losing positivity. With less attitude, dogs started to befriend him. they socialised him.Luck turned his way, as a pair from Østerlev visited the shelter. Seeing his state, they decided to adopt him.

  • still petty over being re- homed.

We could suppose he learned, right? no. Hugo was a stubborn dog, a bored one. Following his routine, he sprinted towards the fence. A sudden shock hit his neck. Flabbergasted by the spook, he stood up and repeated his escape route, only to be smacked again. This time around, he ignored it, but still failed. Since the shock couldn't scare him, his owner could. Suddenly, the door of the garden opened. His owner was home, watching him. Despite being caught red handed, Hugo ran towards his human. Why was he home early? that did not matter. At least he was home. Unlike Hugo, the person did not share his enthusiasm. Greeted with an expression of disgust, he paused. A wag and smile turned to a tail between his legs and face full of loathing. When approached to be leashed, a small growl escaped his jowls. Clearly, that startled the person. As he very quickly moved back.

The next days were more awkward than the ride home. No further escapes lingered his mind. To be fair, nothing did. Both of the people seem to work out their avoidance. Tension between the three could be sensed within a mile. Luckily, it was abruptly stopped by a stranger coming by. Confused, he watched them from afar. Seeing his accessories being packed was not a good sign. No one told him today would be the day he had to pack his things and go.

Anger flushed through him. Only thought he had was ¨screw them¨ despite feeling hurt.

Here he was, new home new life. The fresh start could have been a chance to bond, grow. But nope. Hugo felt trapped. The idea of humans being disloyal caused him to ignore the new owner. Eventually, he began running away. Even during walks, he simply couldn't care less. The second a chance to escape came, he took it. Frustrated by his attitude, she decided to give up on him. Now, his new home was a place called ¨animal rescue¨ . ( It sort of was like a shelter, but they re-home animals automatically. ) Hearing his personality, many people ignored him. Or they took him in for a tryout and returned him within a month. In the end, he spent 6 months there. Being cursed with hair instead of fur, matting occurred. The people working there did their best to keep his maintained, but it was not an easy task. The texture matted easily, and Hugo refused to stay still. Even napping after people.

On the good note, the time he spent there- helped him socialise with other dogs. Many of them shared his story, others were out of this world. He met dogs who lost their owners due to death, other were rescues from other countries. It gave perspective.

Eventually, he was adopted once more. A man, who dealt with hunting came by. He was middle-aged and well set off. Hugo stared at him with scepticism as he approached the lilac dog. Unlike the others, he did not try to pet him or baby talk him. Instead he just looked at him and waited to see Hugo's reaction.

A week later, another journey came. As he sat In the back seat of a van, a big sign appeared. Did not help much as he couldn't read. But the scent told him he was far from home, far from Oslo.
